Earlier in the summer we were needing to replace the light in our in-ground pool. This not being a rather easy task, we ran upon these pool lights On Amazon and they are amazing. They are magnetic so they stick directly to the side of pool walls (can use a suction cup if you choose). They run on batteries so no hardwiring is necessary.
The set comes with 8 lights. Depending on the size of your pool you may need more than 1 set. There is a remote that is included that changes the speed of the light (think disco flash) as well as the color.
